State of the Art Practice Support

EMA’s mission statement contains a commitment to providing a working environment that allows each EMA physician to achieve professional excellence and personal satisfaction throughout a career in medicine.  EMA accomplishes this through its relationship with Alpha Physician Services, its premier physician-owned practice support company, and through other EMA affiliated organizations.

Information technology systems, developed and supported by EDIMS and Alpha Physician Services, assist in the day-to-day clinical practice, helping EMA physicians become more efficient and improving the quality of their workday experience. Ongoing educational programs cover issues such as risk management, COBRA/EMTALA regulations, HCFA compliance and documentation guidelines, as well as other critical practice management topics. New program development has led to the widespread use of physician extenders, including Physician Assistants. EMA is the largest employer of emergency PAs in the tri-state metropolitan area. Most recently, EMA has further improved physician support by adding Clinical Information Managers. These are medical scribes who not only assist in documentation, but also help gather information and expedite patient disposition.

EMA holds monthly Operations Meetings where Medical Directors and Management set direction and share best practices throughout the group. In addition, a Medical Director Academy is held annually to help EMA leadership, both present and future, to continue to develop knowledge and skills in Emergency Medicine management.

EMA's practice support efforts have contributed to EMA's goal of meeting the professional and personal needs of its physicians.
