Expand Your Leadership Horizons with EMA

EMA offers many opportunities for physicians to serve as leaders.  It begins with leadership within the Emergency Department (ED) and the hospital.  EMA sponsors an Emergency Department Director Academy where physicians are trained in skills necessary for today’s ED directors.  These men and women are then appointed to head each Emergency Department with whom EMA contracts.  EMA encourages physicians to become active members of their hospital’s medical staff, serving on various committees, and running for medical staff office.

There are opportunities to become active within the EMA organization itself. EMA physicians are active leaders throughout the country. They sit on the board and hold offices in the state chapters of many different professional societies, such as ACEP, SAEM, AAEM and the ACOEP. EMA physicians also serve on State EMS committees, and have been appointed to positions such as the Medical Liaison to the Department of Health and Senior Services.
