Emergency Medical Associates (EMA) has been at the forefront in utilizing physician associates. After legislation was passed and signed into law in 1992 licensing Physician Assistants, EMA immediately moved ahead with the hiring of APs and NPs for positions in its busy emergency departments.

Presently, there are over 200 physician associates in EMA. They are full members of the EMA Team and are involved in all aspects of the delivery of patient care.

As physician associates, the team philosophy of patient care is important to our practice. EMA’s team consists of board-certified physicians who are actively involved in clinical, academic and professional issues in Emergency Medicine. Likewise, EMA physician associates are also required to have national certification and continuing education and are encouraged to be involved in those same issues.
