Jennifer Waxler, DO, Becomes Board of Trustee Member of Prevention First

Ocean County, NJ-Jennifer Waxler, DO, Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Monmouth Medical Center, Ocean County, NJ, and Emergency Medical Associates (EMA) physician, recently joined the Board of Prevention First, a non-profit agency that develops and implements programs for at-risk children. Prevention First provides services to thousands of children, adolescents and families annually.

Prevention First is committed to improving the lives of Monmouth County's children so they can thrive and grow to be responsible, strong individuals in any environment.

 

Prevention First is committed to strengthening the foundations of children and families, empowering them to successfully handle difficult everyday life situations, as well as extraordinary challenges such as violence and substance abuse.

Prevention First is committed to a multi-faceted, culturally- and societal-diverse approach to vision implementation through community outreach, providing targeted, influential programs in:

·         Advocacy;

·         Prevention education;

·         Professional certification training;

·         Information and referral;

·         Technical assistance;

·         Program development;

·         Research; and

·         Coalition-building/collaboration 

for all residents of Monmouth County, especially those in greatest need.

Since it was first incorporated in 1967 with a focus on addressing alcoholism, Prevention First has since expanded the scope of its original mission to include tobacco and drug prevention programs, and children who are in jeopardy of becoming part of the cycle of addiction and violence.

According to Mary Pat Angelini, Executive Director and CEO since 1992, Prevention First’s Board of Trustees includes a broad range of people representing the community, including volunteers from law, health care, banking and insurance, investments, utilities, higher education and dedicated citizen volunteers.
