Research OpportunitiesEMA provides many opportunities for physicians with a desire to do research. Opportunities exist in EMA’s non-profit research foundation, Emergency Medical Associates Research Foundation (EMARF.
EMARF has been in existence for 22 years. A physician from each Emergency Department site is funded to attend the monthly research meeting. Research is further encouraged through financial support of physician presentations and research publications. A statistician is available through EMARF to assist in study design and analysis. Also available are physician mentors who are experienced in research and publication. An annual five day course in Evidence Based Medicine is offered free of charge to all EMA physicians. EMARF offers a practical and enjoyable route to professional growth for the physician with an academic bent and also for the physician who simply wishes to be well-grounded in all aspects of Emergency Medicine.
