Intensely Democratic Governance

When I first joined EMA, I had already been trained and mentored by EMA physicians who, for me, were wonderful teachers and role models.  Being given the opportunity to work with them was a great privilege.  Ultimately becoming a partner with the very leaders that I so admired was a great thrill.  I had investigated other group structures including hospital employee, independent contractor, and group employee.  The democratic nature of EMA, along with the caliber of its physicians, was the major motivation for my joining this group back in 1984.

A strong advocate of the democratic process, I have taken an active role at EMA.  I was elected to the Board of Directors in 1991 and have served as Secretary of the Board and a member of various committees, including the Compensation Committee, Policy Committee, and Partnership Affairs Committee.  As a practicing emergency physician, my professional growth and involvement within EMA is proof that our democratic process works. EMA partnership has afforded me great opportunities.
