John A. McGurty, Jr., M.D. Receives the Kiryas Joel Volunteer E.M.S. Medical Devotion Award Hudson Valley Hospital Center, Cortlandt Manor, NY - John A. McGurty, Jr., M.D. was recently awarded the Kiryas Joel Volunteer E.M.S. Medical Devotion Award during the Annual Dinner in March. Dr. McGurty is the Associate Director of Emergency Medicine at Hudson Valley Hospital Center, in addition to running a second-generation family medicine practice in Peekskill, which was started by his father. Dr. McGurty is actively involved in working with emergency support agencies, area paramedics, firefighters, state troopers and local police agencies. He currently holds the rank of Captain in the United States Naval Reserve and was awarded the flight surgeon “Wings of Gold” in 1995. In addition, he received the Navy Commendation Medial in June of 1997. Dr. McGurty is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, New York State Academy of Family Physicians and American Military Surgeons of the Uniformed Services. He resides in Peekskill with his wife, Kathy and three daughters.
