The emergency department is often the most challenging departments of a hospital due to its patient volume, interaction with many ancillary and support services and high degree of variability in terms of patient arrivals. You not only need a strong physician and nursing team but also a team of experts who can work with clinicians and leadership to identify and implement solutions that will make your ED more efficient.
As an EMA client, you will receive dedicated support from the ED Solutions, which is the consulting arm of EMA. This team is comprised of former ED nurse managers, administrators and operations subject matter experts who have all "lived" in the ED environment. The ED Solutions team provides a wide array of services and solutions in areas including:
- promoting patient flow
- clinical operations
- process redesign/improvement
- patient satisfaction enhancement
- ED benchmarking and analysis
- regulatory compliance standards
- use of informatics/technology in the ED
- computer based ED simulation modeling
Working with the ED leadership team, the ED Solutions group helps to improve patient flow through large scale ED assessments which provide insight into the operations of your ED. Through a combination of on-site observation, interview and shadowing of ED staff, our team can identify both the bottlenecks that impede efficient patient flow as well as the best practices and process redesign elements that will help address the issue.
Unlike most other consulting groups, the ED Solutions team is not "project based" and will remain a consistent presence and partnership with the ED leadership and hospital throughout your EMA relationship. Our team is available to assist with relevant standing and ad-hoc committees for your hospital and present/educate on ED related topics.
In addition, the ED Solutions team can also servce as your single link to the EMA organization to service your needs as an EMA partner and client.
